So close
Well, I pushed it as hard as I have ever done before. Finished at 50:47. It was hard to keep the pace the last 2 miles and I felt the two rolling hills in mile 6. I set my stop watch to 50 minutes and took off. I came in 801 out of 4273 timed and 80 of 236 in my age class. Time to find another race.

We Did It
Looks like part of the gang is "cruising" around this Thanksgiving season. I thought Cameron would be the first to post some photos or updates on the Half Marathon, Nov 14th.

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Actually the fall is probably the best running season around. We trained, we ran, we finished. We all individual goals and the experience was worth it. I am now looking for my next goal (race) to keep me motivated through the rest of the holiday season.
I had a goal to run the 1/2 in 2hrs or a 9:00/mile. I was able to finish the race in 1:56:53 (8:55/mile). This is my new PR (personal record). I finished 13 of 30 in my age group, 66 of 161 men and 123 of 472 overall.
I will run the annual Run to Feed the Hungry on Thanksgiving and represent the group. I am going to see if I can push it and finish in the low 50's. My PR is 56:15 min.

Still Trying!
I am still trying to get to my goal. I have been stuck at about the same spot for a few months now, and now the holidays are here! I did sign up for a Bootcamp class at the gym for the month of December. It sounds like it is a tough class, and I had to pay extra money to do it! I am hoping that will be good motivation to not eat all the sweets that will be everywhere all of December! I am also hoping it will be a good tweek in my workout routine that will get the scale moving again. I have cut out sugar and haven't had the awesome results I had before. Makes it very frustrating and discouraging. I weighed in this morning at 158.6 - still reaching for that goal of 150!
Good job Cameron and Rebecca. As always you are my motivation. I need to know what got the scale moving for you again Bec. I read you were doing P90X, I hear that is a killer too! Rhett's sisters have been doing that. And it sounds like the no sugar thing is working for you! I'll bet you guys are looking awesome!!
Have a great time on the cruise! I do wish we were going with you, I need a vacation. I'll be thinking about you while we are here in freezing Idaho! Have Fun!

What are we thinking???
A couple days until we test or skills of endurance. Hopefully the training since August 24th will pay off. My goal is 2hrs or less. A friend of mine ran a similar race in 1:54 in March, which is quick for me. I will be proud to come in as planned.
Cameron is look great. He is almost down to where I started a year ago. I seem to be hovering around 200 lbs or slightly below. My goal is 195. Maybe if I was a little more disciplined in my eating I could get there. Either that or my weight is just transferring around my body. I feel stronger, healthy and appear to be getting thinner from comments I receive from those I have not seem in a long time.
Ron, well he is already in good shape. Recently I have been trying to kill him with the long runs. He has been a good weekend running partner.

Good Week
Hey everyone! We are one week away from the big run. I will be running with Earl and Ron is the Sacramento River Run 1/2 marathon next Saturday. They are not showing a 10k but Bec might come and run the last of the race or the first. We will see. It will be very good when it is over. I am excited to do it and see how is goes. Earl has been training great and should do great. Ron has a sore knee so I should be able to keep up with him. We are going to have fun pushing ourselves.
Bec and I did a lot better this week with our running. We made it out 3 days and walked one. I did a long run on Friday to help get ready for the race, 7.5 miles. We will run easy this week in preparation for Saturday.
Also had a good week for the weight loss. Bec and I both recorded new lows on Friday. Bec weighed in at 153.6 lbs and I weighed in at 232.0 lbs. It feels great to be moving in the right direction again. It is amazing what consistent exercise will do for you! I am also trying the "no sugar" thing. It is working great for Bec and I am on week two and it seems to have helped jump start me again.
We are getting very excited for the cruise! Wish so of you others were coming! We are glad that the Chance's will be there and we are looking forward to a great time! Hopefully we will be able to keep everything in check and not gain too much weight back on this trip. (Was this a good reward for getting in shape, a week of eating?) Have a great week! Remember this is our mission prep right now! Stay strong so we are all ready when we are called!!!!

We are still here!!!
Hey everyone! It seems that we are all taking a break from writing in here! I guess Facebook has taken over. Bec and I are still working on loosing weight! Bec is doing great! She happily broke the 160 lb barrier that she was stuck at forever! She is down to around 155 lbs. She looks great! I am bouncing between 233 and 237 lbs. We are having a difficult time getting out and running on a regular basis. Things have been pretty crazy with work and all the other things that we have going on. We are planning on running in a race on the 14th of Nov. Bec is going to do a 10k and I am going to try and do the 1/2 marathon with Earl. He has been doing a lot better at training for it than I have. I am going to try and finish between 2 hrs and 15 min and 2 and a half hours. We will see. We are also getting very excited for the cruise. I bet if any of you still want to go you can get tickets still. Everyone keep going! You are all looking great and I know we feel much better. I still have a long way to go. You all are getting pretty close to were you want to be. I am still trying to get down to 190 lbs or so. Let's keep posting so I don't get discouraged. I don't want to think that I am the only one suffering through the holiday season! Thanks everyone!

Is anyone still working out?
I hope everyone is still working on getting "in shape". I have been pretty steady the past couple weeks. I had to sign up for another race to keep me motivated. I have taken a leap and signed up for a half-marathon on Nov 14th in Sacramento. I guess that is about 6 weekends away.
I ran the 10K loop around Linda on Saturday. I really needed some motivation around mile 4. I managed to come in at 56:41. I managed to run under 9 minutes for the first 4 miles, but then felt sluggish and took a couple walking breaks. Looking back, I should have just pushed through it.
Of course I still plan to attend Run to Feed the Hungry on Thanksgiving. My past runners will be feeding their faces on a cruise...getting fat!
Haven't really lost any weight lately...still hovering around 200 lbs.

Back on track
This week I started my work out routine. Monday I ran 3.1 miles. It was rough as it has been a while since I ran. Wed I went to the track and did some 200 and 400 meter work. Today I ran 4 miles. I wanted to run 5 but just wasn't feeling it after 4. Better to keep building it up.

Better to be stuck here. . .
Well I haven't done too great with my eating lately and it shows. I am going to be better and planning to go back off sweets the day after Labor Day and try to get 10 pounds off hopefully by Halloween! I weighed in this morning at 159.2 and have been stuck right around there for quite awhile (between 157 and 160)
But I keep telling myself - better to be stuck here...

Than to be back stuck here. . . Right!

Rhett hasn't been able to exercise this week, he stepped on a bee while we were boating the other night and his foot is swollen huge! He looks like he has elephantitous!! Poor Guy!
We are headed to my reunion today, last one of the summer! :(
(Not looking forward to going back to school, but being back on a schedule should help get me back on track!)

Back at it!!!
Hey everyone. We weighed in on Friday. I weighed 236.6 lbs and Bec weighed 163.2 lbs.
Bec is doing the P90X DVD's and says that they really hurt. She is doing the ab workout. I should try that!
I started running this morning again and hope to be out again tomorrow. I am going to try and run every morning and see how that works out. We will get this schedule thing down starting next week. School starts and so does seminary. Life will be hectic again. Summer is too short!!!!
We are still working on the eating good and not too much. That is going to be my battle for life I have come to realize! Rhett and Claudine, bring Rhett's dad with us on the cruise! We would love to have him there! It would be great to spend time with him too! Hope you guys can make it! Keep up the great work! You guys are all my inspiration. Have a great week.

The Cruise Is On!!!!
We are signed up for the cruise for the November 21 - 28th!!! We are very excited and hope that everyone can make it. Thanks Anita for working your magic with the cruise people!
As for the weight loss status, it is not going very well. Summer has not been very easy to stick with any sort of workout schedule and that is what helps me the most. The past couple of weeks my work has totally messed things up also. We are going to have to figure out how to manage things better and get back to running and exercise. It does make us feel so much better when we are keeping with our goals.
I weighed myself this morning and I was 239 lbs. That is going in the wrong direction!!!!! I am recommitting today! Back on track! Back on the wagon!!! Eating better and eating less and exercise! We will also be posting every week again. This will help us to be accountable! It is too easy to get complacent and just try to slide and HOPE that things will get better or at least not get too bad!!!
Thanks everyone for letting me vent today! We are still here and our goal is still the same, get IN-SHAPE!!!!

Need to get on track
I have been slacking big time. I have been maintaining that 199-201 weight for sometime now. I use to run at night, but it has been too hot and my schedule too full.
I need to get up early and get my run on! Not sure if Cameron and Ron are still paving the trail?

What UP?
Just checking in. . .
Rhett and I left the kids and just him and I went camping over the weekend, it was really nice. We did a lot of 4-wheeling, 150 miles in 2 days, and a ton of relaxing. We left Thursday afternoon, so I didn't weigh in until this morning.
I weighed in at 156.4
I was very happy about that, I haven't followed the plan that I set up on my last post. I ran twice last week and we went spinning only once. I think I was totally kidding myself thinking I would get two workouts in a day 3 days a week. Wishful thinking. . . life is toooooo busy!!!! I have tried to be very careful with my eating. . . but didn't cut out sweets either. Summer is VERY hard!!!
We have Rhett's family reunion this week in Stanley, we are having a family 5k run on Friday. Natalie is in charge of the reunion this year and their family are huge runners, even the kids! It should be. . . very competetive to say the least, hope we all survive!!!! Then we are staying a couple extra days while Rhett and Blake go to scout camp at Camp Bradley. It should be fun!
Then the next weekend is my 20 year class reunion. . . the biggest reason I started all this!!!! Thanks for your motivation! I am feeling great! (so much better than if I was headed to see high school friends 37 pounds heavier!!!!!!)

Stuck!
So I didn't post last week, but there wasn't a lot to report unfortunately. We have been running 3 days a week and spinning on the other days. Since we have been running outside I haven't been lifting weights and I can tell I need to get back to doing that. I am going to try to start catching a class at the gym later in the day starting next week (we'll see how that goes). I hope if I try to get in cardio everyday and weights 3 days a week for the next 2-3 weeks hopefully I can drop 3-5 pounds before my 20 year class reunion on the 31st. Oh and of course I will have to go back to no sweets during that! That seems to be the only thing that gets the scale moving for me! So I am going to hit that on Monday - this weekend we are off camping to the big Judy Reunion!
So for my numbers:
Last Friday I weighed in at 159.6 which was up from the week before, not terrible, but still up.
This morning I was back at 158.4 which is where I was on my last post, hence my title today - Stuck!

A Great Accomplishment!!!!
This past Saturday was the day designated for the big 15 mile run. I must admit that I was pretty nervous about it before hand. I usually feel ready to run but it was tough all week last week for some reason. I had it set up to run with Earl and Jason Spain. We met up around 6:30 in the morning to start the fun. Earl and Jason both run fast than I do but stayed back. Earl had never run that far either and was a bit unsure as well. Earl ran 13.1 miles without stopping. I ran around 13 without stopping and Jason stopped with me to coach me along. I hit a wall hard and my legs felt like rubber. I walked an ran the rest of the 15 miles. It took me and Earl 2:45.14 for the 15 miles. I think Earl said he did the 13.1 miles in 2:10 or 2:15. I was probably 3 min or so behind that. The last 2 miles were hard!!!!! I have a new respect for anyone running a marathon. I did before but now I really do! Thanks Earl and Jason for pulling me along the last couple of miles.
As for the weight loss, I weighed in at 238 before the run and 233 after. Lets say I am at 235 for now. That is slow going but I am still feeling much better. I am sore from the run still. I ran this morning but it was not easy. Still trying to run a 5k three days a week. I finished this morning in 27.46 min. I think I can do it a bit faster but I was sore!
Bec is doing and looking great. She stayed home and painted the living room instead of running with us on Saturday. She did "ladders" all day. She is feeling very frustrated about her weight. She is hovering around the 160 mark and is going crazy. She keeps talking about liposuction but is just kidding I am sure!
Bec ran today also and is working on improving her times running but is being pretty cautious to make sure she doesn't injure herself.
Thanks everyone for your support! Keep up the good work! Claudine and Rhett, you guys are looking amazing! Earl is going to have to get a new suit soon for his new Bishop calling! Keep it up!

Home Again!
Well I survived Girls Camp. We did an awesome hike in Yellowstone Park to Bunson Peak. It was about 5 miles, but it was a steep incline the entire way up. My knee was pretty sore coming back down. It has been nice to give it a rest for a week, but back to working out in the morning. I tried to be careful with my portions all week and limited myself to one dessert per day. We had camp cooks this year. Two single ladies in our ward that live together, and oh boy, can they cook!!! Every meal was incredible, and there was dessert at every meal too. We had a little walk from the bunkhouse to the cook house I had to walk several times a day, but that was the extent of my exercise the whole week.
Rhett and the boys brought up the trailer and we stayed up camping until last night. I was very nervous, but got on the scale this morning! I don't know how but I weighed in at 158.4
So I told Rhett maybe I should quite exercising and eat dessert everyday!! No, just kidding! I will be back at it tomorrow! Have a good one! Oh and I saw on Facebook you were released Cameron! Enjoy sitting by your family on Sundays!!

Another Week!
Glad you are back Earl! Glad you had a great trip. Can't wait to see the pictures and hear your stories! We missed you really bad and only ran once ourselves! We did walk another day though. We are going to start doing a track workout one of our days this week. It is something we saw in our "Runners World" magazine and our friend Jason was talking about. It is supposed to help build endurance. We will see. I mapped out a long run for next Saturday, 15 miles. Meeting at 6 A.M by the park. Everyone is welcome to come. I am sure I will be bringing up the rear so don't worry about slow you think you are!
I got on the scale this afternoon, morning was dedicated to mowing lawns before it got too hot! Weigh in was 233.8 lbs. Bec was too busy and didn't get on the scale. She looks great and is planning on running 6 miles on Saturday. Have a great week everyone!

Back from Vacation
Well my vacation was awesome! I only managed to run once :-( Since we were up every morning by 6:30 and in bed every night about 12-1 am, I just did not have the energy to get up earlier and get a run in. Plus my feet hurt most days even with the good Asics I wore.
Since we did a lot of walking and I drank as much water as possible, I didn't really watch what or how much I was eating. I did step on the scale at 201.8 this morning. So I went a little backward, but I was afraid it was going to be worse. If I was a little more disciplined on the food, I probably would have lost weight by walking alone.
The good thing is that I missed running. I am looking forward to getting in my runs this week. Hopefully I can get back under 200 quickly and start working on my next goal of 195.
Way to go everyone - successes is in each stride. Way to go Claudine on the race!
Cameron you are catching me...
Glad the frequent eating is working for Rebecca. It seems counter intuitive. It is like a fire you keep burning and that water is going to clear everything out.

Race Day
Just a quick post, life is crazy busy!
We ran the Scenic River Classic yesturday, Rhett ran it in 29:42 and I came in at 31:25! It was a huge race, tons of people and we didn't get that great of a start, we were back in the pack a little ways, but we are very happy with our times. My goal is just to improve each time.
I weighed in Friday at 159.6, I'm not sure where Rhett is, he said he is about the same, so around 207. One of these days I am going to stand behind him as he weighs and get his official number.
I'm off to girl's camp this week - wish me luck, I am a little nervous about not getting my work-outs in and all the treats and crap we eat up there.
Have a good week!

IT"S SUMMER!!!
Well I'm actually going to post... Cameron has been great at keeping up with our progress, Well mostly his progress. I continue to run but no result in weight loss! So now that life is a BIT slower I have decided to try to figure out why!!! I have been stuck at 162 pounds for 3 months!! So I started something new this week. I started writing down EVERYTHING I put in my mouth.
It is interesting to see what I eat and how much water I drink. I think I really havent changed my eating to much I just think about what im eating more, knowin I have to write it down!
I noticed that if I eat like Earl suggested, Every 2-3 hours and have a smaller portion im not eating junk as much or Over eating, because im not STARVING! I try to follow everthing up that I eat with at least 2 cups of water.
Well I saw instant results! I started this on Monday and by Tuesday I was already down a pound! Could that be right?! No just a fluke! Well Wed i was still down a pound and by Thursday down 2 pounds! The cool thing is I dont feel like I depriving myslef of food at all I just feel great! I eat when I want I just have to write it down!
Today was weigh in time... I came it at 159.8! In one week I broke the 160 barrier I have been batteling for over 3 months!! Now my goal it to not go back up!
WEll enough about me! Cameron is just amazing let me tell you as I Jog he run's circles around me literally! He run's in circles so he doesn't get to far ahead of me! He is doing so great! He also did amazing this week! He has been on a steady downward loss just what he wants!
Today he came in with a 4 pound loss!!! 233!! Way to go Cameron! You inspire me!

About time.
Well I guess I will finally post to the blog. I am still running although it is lonely by myself. But I try to run at three times a week. Normally three miles and one day six miles. I am hanging around the 172 - 175 mark depending any great desire. But I do feel great and have lots of energy. So keep up the great job everyone. And it will come off ...slowly but it will come off.
Have fun in Spain Earl.

Survived the Trek!
We had a great time on our pioneer trek! We had a ton of rain, but it gave us a great pioneer experience. I hope to have pictures and stuff up on our blog soon. I worked hard last week, and had set Thursday as the day I could break my "no sweets" streak. I weighed myself at 4:30am Thursday before we left. . .
I weighed in at 162.6
I was worried about the trip, about being good and also sitting on a bus for 9 hours there and back. I usually retain water like crazy when I just sit and figured I would blow up like a balloon! I was pretty good with the sweets. I went to have a brownie Thursday night, but it just didn't taste great, so I only had a bite. I did have some yummy peach cobbler on Friday and a cupcake on Saturday.
So I decided to weigh myself again this morning, I was really nervous, I figured I had gained at least a couple pounds, but much to my surprise and delight. . .
I weighed in at 161.4
We did walk about 11.5 miles in two days. And I was still careful, and I am happy to have not blown up like a balloon!!!
We are running the Scenic River Classic on Saturday. Several from Rhett's family have decided to run with us - Justin, Carleen, Shalean, Rick, and Heather. And my two sisters, Andrea and Melanie are going to run it as well!!!!! I am excited, and hopefully up for the challenge of a little friendly competition!

1/2 Marathon (Almost)
This morning I got up and did a long run. I wanted to run for 2 hrs. and see how far that would get me. I ended up running 12.35 miles in 2:17.18. I did pretty good for the first 10 miles and then had to walk for a minute or so. I ended up walking for 10 min. near the end. I did run (slowly) to the finish. I weighed 237.8 lbs before the fun and 233 lbs after. It was very hard at time but it is done! Keep up the great work Earl! You are a machine. Thanks for everyone else. It helps to see all your efforts, successes and setbacks. Have a great week!

So close with a couple days to go - Revised
I have only run once this week on Tues. I ran 5 with a 43:38, which was my second best time at that distance. My knee and shin on my right side was a little sore on Wed and Thurs so I decided to take it easy. Didn't want to have a bum knee as I get ready for vacation. If I feel better, I will take a run on Friday night or Saturday morning.
I tipped the scale at 201 on Friday morning. I drank a lot of water yesterday and must have flushed out my system. I broke the 200 mark before my vacation.

Yeah Its Summer!!!
So glad school is out!!!! But our summer is very busy, I hope to be able to stick to my workouts throughout summer. I think it's going to be a little tough because we will be gone a lot and there are so many yummy things in summer - Smores!! We went camping last weekend and I didn't have ANY, it was a killer! We leave on Thursday for Martin's Cove and that is when I set to break my no sweets streak. I am going to be very careful though. I went with our stake to Martin's Cove 4 years ago and their snacks were Day Old Hostess everything. It seemed like everytime I turned around they were handing out twinkies and doughnuts. I am going to take some snacks along that are more healthy!!! But once we get home, I am home for a week and then I go to Girls Camp for an entire week, that will be a killer too. I always eat way too much at girls camp, so once again I hope to keep it all in check and figure out how to get some excerise in that week!!!!!
I weighed in on Friday at 163.8 (I didn't get Rhett's weight this week, he has been sore again this week, being revisited by sore muscles from his fall so he stayed in bed a couple days this week).
Slowly but surely, I was complaining to Rhett that the weight should be coming off faster! He told me I was insane, that I am doing great and it's coming off a lot faster than I put it on. But it's not as fun taking it off as it was putting it on!!!!!

Going the distance
We are in the Madera/Fresno/Clovis area this weekend. My half-brother graduated from middle school in Madera on Friday. I packed my gear so I could still do my long-run on Sat, but it is easy to sleep and be a little lazy when on vacation.
Last night I used mapmyrun.com to find a route. I needed to do something since I was neglectful last weekend. I decided to extend my run to 9 miles. I mapped a course close to the "Outlaws". After mapping the run, I looked at the area I was covering and thought...holy smokes that is far. I set a mental goal of 1:25 min and came in at 1:27 something. I was doing pretty good until the 6/7 mile mark. The last two miles were a little tough so I lost some time and had to walk a couple times. The last time I ran 8 I felt better, probably because I did a little better at pre-running fuel. I weighed in at 202.8 on Friday, but don't have a scale to check where I am today. I am hoping to break the 200 mark before my trip to Spain on June 15th. I also plan to pack some gear to run in Spain. There are a couple places I would love to take a 3-5 mile run.
Good luck everyone! It is worth the hard work and sometimes pain. Stay disciplined and eat smaller meals more frequently. I am a believer, even though it seems like eating less and exercise is the trick.

It's FRIDAY!!!
It is always good news when it's Friday no matter what the weigh in! We had a good week, ran 4 days I think. It's early when we run so don't blame me if I don't remember it all the time! I can't seem to break the mark I am on. It has been holding on for month's now! I guess I'm going to have to be more disciplined with the wrong kinds of food! But over all we are feeling great and slimming down even if the weight is not coming off we can tell our clothes are fitting better!
Cameron is up two pounds 237.4
Rebecca's staying steady like forever at 162. even.
I'm going to put a before and after photo on here to show the progress.

Late Again!
I'm late again, but here goes. Friday's weigh in was good
Me: 164.4
Rhett: 209 (something - he doesn't look at the point stuff he says)
Then Saturday we headed to Utah to Lagoon on Saturday and Rhett's sister's baby blessing on Sunday. It is so hard to pass on treats at those shin-digs, I didn't have any treats but I did have a frozen pink lemonade at Lagoon and it felt like I was cheating. Rhett says it wasn't, but I'm sure it had a ton of sugar in it. Rhett's brother Justin and his wife Carleen have both given up sweets too, (they haven't said for how long) and they are running every morning. Justin is doing the Bone to Back Relay the end of June.
We are registered to run a 5k on June 20th, it is at the Greenbelt, the Scenic River Classic. I haven't run much since the 5k, so it will be good to get back to it! We are both getting new running shoes, I think that will help our knees a lot! Have a great week everyone!!

Busy Week
I had a busy week and only ran once. I managed to drop another pound to 203. I am hoping to break the 200 mark soon. I can identify with Cameron's eating. I have been eating 4-5 times a day for sometime now. I make sure I get a good breakfast, eat a snack of 200 calories about 10:30, lunch about 12:30 and dinner between 4-6 if all possible. This keeps me from over eating if I get home late. If I go for a run in the evening, I may eat another small snack when I get back.
I noticed the other day that Rebecca is looking thin in the face which is a good indicator of overall weight loss. Happy early birthday.

THE END OF ANOTHER WEEK
I don't know about the rest of you but the weeks are flying by. Two more weeks of school for us and the kids and Bec will be enjoying summer vacation.
This week I was a bit sore from the long run last Saturday so we walked more than ran. We ran two days. We didn't do a run this morning either. I tried something that seemed to work really well for me this week. I tried not eating if it got very late in the evening. I was also eating a really good lunch so I wasn't very hungry for dinner. I would eat some carrots or something like that and then eat in the morning. It seemed to work pretty good. The scale started moving in a positive direction again. Friday morning weigh-in was as follows:
Cameron - 235.8 lbs
Rebecca - 162.? lbs
I need to plan another long run very soon. It is tough to come up with 2 hrs. that you can just run. Next Saturday is Bec's Birthday. She is going to be 37 yrs. young! Everyone make sure you wish her Happy Birthday. As you have seen on her Face Book page she is looking very good! I will try and add a picture of us on here as well. Good luck everyone! Keep up the posts and getting in shape! It really helps to see what each of you are doing.

Better Late than Never!
We have been camping over Memorial Day Weekend so I didn't post for Friday. On Friday I weighed in at 166.6 and Rhett was 209. We didn't get any exercise in this weekend, so I am ready to get up in the morning and get back to it! I did pass up a lot of sweets - even homemade pippin' hot glazed doughnuts!!!! Not Easy!!!
I can't believe you guys are running a half marathon! That is awesome!!!! I haven't ran since the race last week, I did more weights and spinning this week. But I plan to get back to running this week. We are wanting to find another 5k to run soon.
I don't blame you for changing to Fridays to weigh in, it helps knowing you worked out all week before weighing in!

Still Learning!
Well Claudine, this should make you happy. Bec said the other day while we were walking that she didn't want to post our weight on Monday anymore. She would like to start doing our weigh-in's on Friday mornings. So now we will be on your schedule and closer to Earl. Great job Earl on the run. We are also going to get ready to run a half marathon. We have wanted to for awhile but have never done it and we need something new to motivate us. We have to find one but we are going to start. I didn't know if I could do it before but last Friday I ran with Bec at her pace. She is very steady all the time. I felt really great after about 2.5 miles and thought I maybe could run a half marathon. Saturday morning we got up and met Laura, Earl's wife, at 6:15 for a run. I decided that today was going to be the day I would try to run for a long run, mostly to see how long I could run. I didn't tell Bec and her and Laura turned a different way and left me after two blocks. They ran for about an hour and I ended up going for about 1 hr. and 45 min.! I felt great until about the last 10 min or so and had to walk for about a min. My thighs felt like jello! I ended up going 10.35 miles. I was very happy to see that and now feel pretty confident that I can do a half marathon. I did learn another thing from my run on Saturday. You have to let your wife know where and how long you plan on being gone. They tend to worry if they don't know these things. Sorry Bec!!!! Here is our weigh-in for Friday the 22nd:
Cameron - 237.2 lbs
Bec - 160.2 lbs
The race was fun last weekend but now we have to find another one. It is so much easier to run when you are training for something. Here is a link to the run I did on Saturday.

Long Runs
So I am working on my next goal which will be a half-marathon. This is very intimidating to me. I have adjusted my training program after my race on the 16th. I did not finish like I would have liked.
I have been running 5 miles twice a week. One run will incorporate hills and the other will be more of speed work. I may do this at a shorter distance. On Saturday, I do my long run. This week it was 8 miles. Since I know that I can do 6.2, going up to 7 didn't seem like enough mental and physical challenge. To ease my mind a little, I decided to run down a road for 4 and turn around. I just didn't feel comfortable doing a loop in case something happened and I was far from home. I ran with 12 oz of G2 for hydration and GU for my half way point. I dropped off the bottle at 3 miles and took the GU at 4. I had enough energy to finish the race and drank about 6 to 8 oz. Of course bottoms up at the end.
I was thinking about mile 5 that I might be able to do the run in 1 hr 15 min. I was not worried about time, just trying to keep a steady 9:20 mile. I actually finished at 1:14:14, 9:15 miles. I was surprised at how my energy level was sustained as I focused on form and pace.
My IPOD recording the mile markers - 9:17, 10:14, 9:09, 9:02, 9:13, 9:13, 9:15, 9:19
I weighed in at 204 before my run and 201 after. That is a lot of sweat!

Survived!!
Well I survived my first 5k! Very excited!
My time was 33:32 and Rhett's was 33:34 (I think he let me beat him).
I was pretty happy with that, I only walked for a minute a couple times!!! It feels great!!! I told Rhett we need to find another to do soon.
Rhett has been back at the gym all of last week and is feeling pretty good. He wants to be back down to 207 by the end of May.
I weighed in last Friday at 168.2 - getting closer!!!!!
Good job on the 10k guys, that is amazing!!!! I can't imagine going double what we did, maybe someday! Baby steps!!!

We did it!
I hit the scale at 203 this morning. Cameron, Rebecca, Ron and I started off this morning with our 10K race. It was a beautiful trail course tucked in the foothills of Folsom, CA. Ron serenaded "Ring of Fire" by John Cash for us while we passed the Folsom Prison.
The race started at 8:25 which was not early enough since we were probably in the mid 70's by race time. We were told there were 8 water stations, but we only had them at mile 1, 2 something and mile 5. Miles 1-3 I ran according to plan. I got thirsty 4-6 and since a lot of it was in the sun and only had 1 water station, I struggled. I did not get the time I wanted, but can feel the improvement from a year to even 5 months ago. A race like that use to wipe me out for the rest of the day. I think I am going to train for a half marathon. I need to find a race and set a new goal. I can't even imagine going twice the distance right now.

Mother's Day Downfall!!!!
This is not a fun post but I am doing it because this is the place to keep track of our results or the lack there of! We had a great weekend. I went on a 10k run with Earl and Ron on Saturday. I did it in about 58 min. and Earl was about 2-3 min faster. Ron finished about a min. faster also. I need to learn to pace myself so I don't run out of gas at the end. Two of my toe nails are going to fall off now. They don't feel real good. That will be fun for the race on Saturday. Mother's day was great. The boys and I fixed a pretty good dinner, roast potatoes, salad and corn. It was too good and I ate to much. We also made a big breakfast. Oh well! Bec is worth it. That was the good part of the weekend. Now for the not so fun part! Weigh-in on Monday morning:
Cameron - 242.8 lbs (The weight yo-yo!)
Bec - 163 lbs (She liked her dinner and breakfast also!)
We are walking this week trying to be ready for the run on Saturday. We are really trying. It gets hard and frustrating! We need to be more disciplined with our food intake and the amounts we are eating. We are not giving up! Thanks for all your examples. Claudine, you look great in your mother's day pictures and congrats on getting under 170! That is huge! Earl, you are a machine! Keep it up. I will try and keep up on Saturday. I hope I can keep up with your 9 min mile!
Thanks everyone!
P.S. Todd I miss you! Get with the program and post! The wedding is in a couple of weeks!

Back on Track!
Well, I am back on track with the sweets again! No sweets since Monday!
I weighed in Friday morning at 169.8
It feels awesome to get under 170. My goal is no sweets until we go to Martin's Cove, which is June 11th.
Our 5k is a week from today, I don't know how much I will be able to run, my knee has been giving me a lot of trouble this week and I sure don't want to injure it before the trek. So I am just taking it as it comes and doing what I feel like I can. I have done more spinning and lifting this week then running. My main goal is not to run races, but to lose weight!
I love watching Biggest Loser! So inspiring! So are you guys keep up the good work!
Oh and Rhett did go to the gym with me Monday and Tuesday, but I think it set him back in his healing and he hasn't been able to go back. He says he has put on 10 pounds and doesn't like to think about the whole thing, he just gets so mad because he had been doing so well. It's a bummer!

Making Progress
This morning I weighed in at 204.4. I hit my goal of 205 which is exciting, but wanting to be under 200 more. Last night I mapped out a loop to run a 10K.
http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/ca/marysville/850124150062977088
After work I ran the course to see how my preparation is coming for May 16th. I forgot how far 6.2 miles really is. Sometimes going out and running back is easier than a loop. I did it in 56:53 (9.09 min/mi). Not a bad result. I wanted to come in at 9.00 or less per mile. I had a couple points where I struggled and had to stop for a few seconds. In the next week, if I can keep my endurance up, I hope to run the whole thing and achieve my goal!
I watched the biggest loser and they ran marathons in 26 days of preparation. I was totally amazed. I just don't have the will power yet.

Hangin' In
That's the best words to describe us right now. We are hangin' in there, haven't made much progress in 3 weeks, but still hangin' in. . .
I weighed in on Friday at 171.2
I have not seen the progress I had been seeing since Rhett got hurt. I have been really good and still make it to the gym 5-6 days a week, and I was off sweets until Easter, then I had Easter candy and a big piece of better than you know what cake!!!! It was delious! I swore that was it and I was going to go back to being sweets free. But it's a little tough, ya get that taste in your mouth and I went right back to craving chocolate. So I didn't do so great that next week. The past two weeks, I have been good, but have allowed myself a one or two treats a week.
I am ready to rededicate myself on Monday, no sweets and I am going to cut back on bread. That is a big weakness for me, rolls especially, we have them a lot. I hope that will help get the scale coming down again.
Our 5k is two weeks from today, and I still haven't been able to run outside like I really want to. I'm not hardcore enough to want to run in the wind and rain. Idaho springs are very windy!!!! Rhett is hoping to be able to walk it, I think he will be able to. He is doing a lot better, it has been 3 weeks now. He keeps saying he thinks he is going to be able to go back to the gym on Monday, we will see. He was home from work last Monday and Tuesday, and I really don't want him to rush back. He is frustrated though, he says he is just getting fat! When people want to help you feel better they bring over goodies, and we have had a ton of that and he has sampled it all! Hopefully he can get back to the swing of things soon and get back to where he was. It is amazing how quickly your body goes flabby once you stop working out!!
My 20 year class reunion is the end of July, I really hope to lose another 10-15 pounds by then.
Keep hangin' in!

Does This Get Hard For Anyone Else!!!!!
Well let me start with our weigh-in from last Monday:
Cameron - 243.2 lbs
Bec - 161.4 lbs
We are both stuck. We are running and walking still but sometimes it gets very hard. If it wasn't for Ron, some mornings I would just stop running and walk. That was last week. Bec is pretty steady all the time. She is frustrated at not being able to get below 160 lbs. She looks great and we are trying to keeping each other going. We are both hoping to be able to break the walls that seem to be in our way soon.
Last weekend we did a 5k walk for M.S. Bec walked with a group from her work and I ran the course twice. I ran it in 55+ min. That is my best time for a 10k. I don't think it was quite a true 10k but very close. We are going to do a 10k in Folsom on the 16th.
Thanks for everyone keeping me going! I was having the hardest time last week. You guys are my motivation. Thanks Bec! We will keep getting in better shape so when it is time to serve our missions we will be ready to go!

alright, here I am again, with even more pounds on me than last time I posted. I am up to
about 196lbs. and need to get my butt going- well I have been doing some things. But, I'm with bec, those sweets are just too tempting!! What is it with those sweets?
I picked up a new book on tape called "Does this clutter make my butt look fat?" by Peter Walsh. I have only listened to the intro, but I love it already. He is so good at just saying it how it is! He asks the question "How do you want your life to be?" or "what do you want to do with your life?" We only have one life! He talks about how America is in love with FAT. We drive the biggest cars, have bigger houses, with smaller families, and we eat whatever we feel like eating without thinking about it. We eat out 1/2 the time now, and we think that gives us permission to not worry about what we put into out mouths, or how much we put in. anyway, great book! (I also love his other book, "it's all too much")
I also visited my Dr's a couple of weeks ago. It was time to start taking care of myself again. My OB/GYN said the best thing. First she encouraged me to sign up for something that would motivate me to do some exercize, then she gave me the best advice... she said she has a plaque that says "anything worth doing, is worth doing POORLY" She said, don't kill yourself if you don't have hours to train right now, just do what you can, and ENJOY it!! She and her family did a triathilon last summer. she is probabaly in her late 50's and is probablay about 250lbs. I LOVE MY DR!!
So, now, with the extra weight I have put on, I now have 36 lbs. to loose, but I at least have a better outlook and am trying to do something a few times a week to MOVE!
I walked today, and yesterday I worked in my garden all day, man I am sore! love it!!
till next time!

We Are Still Trying!!!!
Hey Everyone!
Thanks for your posts. It helps to see you all working so hard to reach your goals. We are also working to get to our goal. It is frustrating to not see results but we are getting in better shape even if the scale doesn't think so!
Here is this weeks weigh-in:
Cameron - 241.6 lbs.
Heading in the right direction again.
Bec - 163.4 lbs.
We are doing an M.S. Walk/Run 5k on Saturday and preparing for the Folsom Run in May. Bec and I are both planning on doing the 10k for that race.
Everyone keep up the "HARD" work. This truly is hard work but very worth it! We both feel much better now than when we started! It is only going to get better the closer we get to our goal. The real goal is a much healthier lifestyle.

Slow and steady wins the race, No?
Well Sat was another long run in my world. Like the previous week, I set my Ipod for time rather than distance. Last week was 40 minutes and I increased it to 45. Doesn't seen like a lot more, but I was spent. When I reached my goal and stopped, I felt like I could not run another inch. I was able to hit the 5 mile mark which was consistent with last week. I ran on average 9 minute miles. I started out a little too fast like usual, but was able to get a pretty good stride. Ron Chance ran with me and we hung there pretty much side by side the whole time. Toward our half way point I was not that far ahead. He really pushed me to keep the pace. Thanks Ron.
Looks like next week I will inch it up to 50 minutes. I am on track to hit a 55.48 min 10K, which would be almost a 3 minute improvement over Jan. Who knows, with more weight loss and training maybe I will surprise myself. Right now nothing comes without hard work.

Making Progress and Feeling Good
Today was my long run. I am trying to run MWF and then longer on Sat because I have more time. Today I set my ipod for 40 minutes rather than miles. I ran out 20 minutes then turned around. I was happy when I returned to the spot I started with 4 seconds to spare. I have been working really hard to keep a constant pace (9 minute miles). My result was 9 minute miles, 4.44 distance. I weighted in at 205.2 and hope to get under that 205 soon. It would be awesome to get to the 200 mark by the race in May. Since I am increasing my miles I think I just might be able to do it.
I've Lost My Work-Out Partner :(
Well, I have lost my work-out partner for awhile, Rhett got hurt on Thursday night (I will have to put the story on our blog). A ladder collapsed on him when he was at the very top. He has cracked ribs and lots of sore muscles. He can hardly move and will be laid up for awhile. It is a huge bummer, I hate getting up and going to the gym by myself!!!!
I am still on my no sweets roll, almost 6 weeks!!! I do think I am going to treat myself tomorrow for Easter though. We'll see, now that I have gone so long I am afraid I will just pig out royally!!!
I didn't post last week, I weighed in at 174.6 last Friday. I didn't weigh myself yesturday, (I was in the ER with Rhett). So I weighed in this morning at 172.6 I'm feeling really good! Still haven't been able to run outside a whole lot, it was nice a couple days and then has been really rainy. Here's to nice weather, a fast recovery for Rhett, and numbers to keep coming down.

We Are Stuck!!!!
We have been doing pretty good as far as exercising. We run at least 3 days a week and walk two.
Today I weighed in at 241.2 lbs.
I am getting very tired of this and need to figure something else out. I need to start paying more attention to what and more importantly, how much I am eating. I don't think eating later in the evening helps much either. We are still working toward our goals and are feeling healthier.
Bec weighed in at 162 lbs.
Bec thinks that her love for sweets is what is causing her stall in weight loss. We may both have to go "sugar free" to kick start our bodies again.
We are planning on the run in May with Earl. I don't know about the time part. I feel good about just finishing. We will see how that goes. It should be a fun run!
Keep up the great work everyone. I know it is frustrating when the scale does not confirm or show us our efforts but don't let that slow you down. We are all getting in better shape. That is the goal. We all need to be ready to be missionaries when we are old!
Have a great week everyone!

Getting ready for next week
I have not posted in a long time. I am trying to run 4 times a week. Mon, Wed and Fri. My goal is to run 3 miles each day. Saturday's are my long runs. I increase 1 mile every two weeks. A week ago I ran 4 miles in 36:37.
I had to take it a little easy this week because my shins were bugging me again. This next Saturday I hope to be able to run 4 miles. This morning I weighed in at 206.8. I seem to do pretty good during the week and for some reason move up a pound or two. I don't think that I eat more, it is probably just the break in routine. I am still planning for a 10K on May 16th. My goal is 54-56 minutes. I have been running 9 minute miles consistently so I am on my way. Hopefully I can continue to move toward my next goal of 205, then 200 down eventually to 190.

Another Week Sweets Free!!!!
I made it another week without sweets! It's still very hard, especially at school and parties. We had 2 birthday parties this week and I passed up cake for a glass of water! WHAT THE ?!*@#! Now that is insanity right there!?!!?!! But it has been paying off and I think I am going to keep at it as long as it keeps working (or until I cave in to something really good!) Friday morning I weighed in at 176.8 Yeah!!!! It is so nice to see those numbers coming down!!
It has gotten really cold here again so I haven't been running outside, I really need to get ready for the run in May! It snowed this last week and there is snow in the forecast for the next few days. Gotta love Idaho Springtime!
We hope to be able to cruise!!! (Hoping the $ is there) Where are you thinking about going? We would rather go when it's cold here and go someplace warm and wonderful, rather than go when it's hot here and hot as you know where there. What cruises are you looking at, where, what cruise line, etc. There is a lady in my ward that is a travel agent I can talk to about it.

Baby Steps
So I'm trying not to get frustrated, this is a slow process and I am all about things being quick! I guess the slow turtle was the one who won the race though right! I weighed in Friday at 180.2
I had a little bite of a cookie, but it wasn't that great so I didn't eat anymore. Other than that, no sweets! I did have a little too much to eat Friday night, we went out to a Mexican place we have never been to before and it was awesome! I've been able to run outside a few times, the weather has been pretty nice, but it has turned cold today and will be most of the week. :(

Visiting An Old Friend! (Crap!!!!!)
Well not a good day to be doing this, but to stay with my schedule!
My weigh-in for today was 240.2 lbs.
I really didn't like seeing that! Oh well, now I can work really hard this week to get back where I should be.
Good luck all!
Cameron
P.S. Bec said that I needed to explain the "Old Friend" part. The old friend is the 240 lb mark and it is not a welcomed friend!

Don't Be Shocked
Okay, don't be too shocked, two posts in a row! I am on a roll! We have had a cold at our house, which aren't colds the absolute worst! I have had it for about a week, and yesturday Rhett came home with a stuffy nose and sneezed his head off this morning. I feel so bad for passing it on to him! I'm sure I picked it up at the school! Anyhow we have continued to exercise everyday even though we can hardly breath through our noses! I have continued to stay away from sweets, almost 2 weeks now. I have never in my entire life done that! It seems when you are trying to stay away from sweets, they are around even more!!
Anyhow I weighed in this morning at 181.4
Yeah! Progress at last!
Rhett weighed in at 207 this week, he has been stuck there for awhile.
Have a good weekend!

YAHOO!!!!!!!!
Finally!
I know you may be thinking that I reached my goal but that is not the case. The weigh-in was good today though.
Cameron - 238.8 lbs
I finally got below 240 lbs! It seemed like it would never happen. It is so frustrating sometimes.
Bec - Is not here. She is coming back tonight from her Utah trip so she can update her info. I will tell you that she is looking very good!
Hey Todd! I tried on the speedo and I think I better keep working out. Not quite there yet! Everyone keep up the great work. Post, Post, Post! It really does help! Have a great week!

Hello From Idaho!
Wow, I haven't posted since January...it's already March! Cameron gave me a bad time on our blog for not posting on here. But as I have said in the past it is hard to write anything when things seem to be about the same. I fell off the wagon...yes, again. I went to the doctor and he had a bunch of tests run and I didn't exercise much during that time and pretty much ate like crap! I figured if they found something wrong with me I would deal with it all later. Well all tests came back normal.... I had an insulin resistance test (both my sisters are insulin resistant and my mom is a type 2 diabetic). The test is if your number is below 4 you are insulin resistant, or above 6 you are normal. Mine is 5.4 so I'm not insulin resistant, but I'm not normal either. The doctor says with this kind of number we recommend diet and exercise.... REALLY... YA THINK! I started crying telling him how hard I have been working out and trying to do good on my eating, but lose nothing so then I eat a bag of cookies! I think he thought I was a retard, but he was very nice and told me he didn't know what I was so worried about, that I'm not fat :) (how nice of him huh?) Anyhow, he gave me a diet plan and lots of encouragement. That was last week, and I have been doing so much better. I made it to the gym 6 days this week, and went back to my weight lifting class yesturday (I wasn't getting it done at home) And I haven't had sugar since Monday (I decided maybe I will try Bec's approach). Yesturday I weighed in at 183.8 which I am excited about. I weighed in at 187.0 last week. Oh and I weighed less on my doctor's scale than our stupid digital scale that I still hate!!!
I'm not sure where Rhett is at, probably about the same. I will make sure to get his numbers for next week. He has been really good at working out, has lifted weights a little, but says he needs to do more. I'm sure he will lose more as I am trying to eat better and not buying the crap at the grocery store, and trying to fix healthier dinners.
We are running a 5k on May 16th so it's onward and upward...no looking back!

Looking to get back in the swing of things
Well I haven't posted in forever! I haven't actually been doing much exercising either. I have been slammed at work the past couple weeks with operating meeting. I did weigh myself the other day. Actually I weigh myself pretty much everyday. That is a way I keep myself disciplined. I fluctuate as of late between 207.2 and 207.8. Feeling good about breaking the 208 mark and keeping myself below 210 for sometime now. It seemed a few weeks ago that I would weight between 210 and 212 from day to day. My next goal is 200. I don't know if I will be able to post my official weight on Monday as I will be in the OC for a meeting. If not, I will post Tuesday. Good luck.

Here We Are!
Hey Everyone! Another week has past and we are half way through another. Sorry it has taken me so long to get to this.
Results from Monday:
Bec - 160.2 lbs
Bec is finally seeing the results of her sacrifice(no sugar for the month of Feb.) on the scale. She looks great and she says her clothes are fitting better all the time. I thought they fit good anyway!
Cameron - 242.8 lbs
I am going in the right direction again. It seems I get hung up as I get closer to say 240. We just have to keep going!
I will keep your advise in mind Todd. I know it won't be too flattering to showing up in that speedo with a bad case of the "dunlap" disease. Great job on getting down again. Keep up with the exercise. I have started doing stomach crunches and leg lifts as well as push-ups. We are also running in the mornings more regularly again. It has taken us awhile to get back into the swing of things since Christmas break.
Good luck everyone!

It has taken us awhile to get back into the swing of things since Christmas break.
Good luck everyone!

Todd Is Back!
Hey guys, I missed logging the weigh in last week but I went up to 240.5 due to a dinner with a Polynesian family. Three plates of food did me in. They kept telling me they would be offended if I didn't eat more.
Tuesday I weighed in at 237.5 lbs. I was glad to see that. I'm down 20.5 lbs since 12/17/08 when I peaked at 258 lbs. The 20 lbs it great but it is only getting back to my average weight over the last few years. : ( So far I still haven't done much for exercise besides ride an exercise bike a few times a week. However tonight I plan on getting the serious exercise going so I can get way below the 240 lb threshold. Well I'm off to workout. See you next week.
Cameron get going because I don't want to see any flab hanging over your speedo when we are on the cruise. I guarantee that you will drive the 75 and older fe/males wild if you look good in your speedo. A tan leathery skin and shaved legs will only add bonus points.

RUNNING IN PLACE!!!!
Hey everyone! Another week has gone by and it is time to check in again. We hope that you are all doing well. It would be nice to hear from you but I know you are all probably consumed with the "Face Book" craze and don't have time to enter your stuff here. Thanks Todd for providing me with some serious motivation. I am afraid that this week you will really leave me in the dust. Keep up the good work! I am still shooting for 200 lbs by June 1st. Keep posting Todd so we can keep each other on the chase!
Bec is doing awesome staying away from sweets. She passed up going to ice cream after our Stake Conference and we went straight home afterword. She is a machine! Keep going Rebecca! I may have to join you soon.
Here are our results for the week.
Cameron - 243.8 lbs
I am up 0.4 lbs from last week. I may start measuring myself as well so I can see if there are changes. I can feel that there are in my clothes but it would be nice to see on paper.
Bec - 162.0 lbs
Bec is doing great and looks great but the scale is not showing her results either. I know that one day the scale will take a big drop!
Keep up the great work Bec! Keep up the great work Todd! The rest of you, I don't know how you are doing because you don't write. Keep up the good work anyway and don't get frustrated!
Is there a time you guys want to plan our cruise? Why don't you send in some dates and we will start looking for some good prices.

Todd is still in the lead!
Cameron,
You almost caught me! I only exercised twice last week but now I see I have some serious competition so I will have to get with the program.
I did manage to control my need for fast food this week and watched my eating pretty close. I weighed in at 239.0 this morning. I actually weighed in twice just to make sure I was reading it right.
Keep up the good work June is comming up fast.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! (I know it was saturday.)
Hey Everyone!
Another week has gone by and we were not able to do much exercising. The weather has finally decided to rain. We need it badly but it is not very fun to run in. Maybe this week we will have to try it as long as it is not raining too hard. I ran this morning and it was lightly raining. It wasn't too bad. I was slow though and I missed Bec. She is not feeling really great right now! We both weighed in this morning and here are the results:
Bec - 162.4 lbs (I think she was standing on the scale wrong because she is doing great with having no sugar! She didn't eat any Valentine candy or anything, and it was around!) Great job Bec!
Cameron - 243.4 lbs (Hey Todd. The challenge is on. I think this is a little lower than your last post! I like the idea of being 200 by June 1st.)
Keep up the good work. Glad to hear you are starting to feel better from your run Earle. Running and hills, do those really go together? I don't think so!

Feeling Good
I had to take a break, not because I got lazy. I ran a 10K in Jan and got shin splints from it. It was a hilly course that kicked by butt. I ended up reading online and decided two weeks off was the best. Last week I ran two times and already two times this week. I have been working on my heart rate with my Garmin watch. I weighed in at 208.8 on Monday. I inch ever so slowly down to 200, my next goal. I seem to float up to 210 on a regular basis. Now sure why...

Yeah Todd!
OK ,
I've been reading this fitness blog or yours on and off for quite a while. Everyone is looking great! I however, have yet to start any type of fitness program but I guess that is why I'm writing. I'm finally giving in. I realized Cameron almost weighs less than me and I
can't let that happen, at least not until we are closer to 200 lbs!
Just kidding, although that is a very good source of motivation, I'm extremely proud of you guys and the hard work you have done. I don't know how you do it with your busy schedules but it is inspiring.
Actually I was looking through pictures of me and I don't recognize who is in the photos. For some odd reason I have body dysmorphia and still think I look like I did in High School. I hate to admit it but I weigh 243.5. This is down from the 248 I weighed two weeks ago (Jan 27th). I downloaded an app on my iPhone called Lose it! and it allow me to track what I was eating. It really made me aware of how much I was overeating. Sometime I was eating 4,000 calories per day! So far just changing my food habits has allowed me to drop 5 pounds.
My goal is to weigh 200 lbs by my sister's wedding June 7th. That is about 2.5 lbs per week and I have 117 days left. My daily calories should be around 2,000. Tonight I'm going to start the exorcise program. I am definitely no runner like some of you but I will be hitting the exercise bike along with some weight training and cardio work outs. 6 days a week.
Well, best of luck to everyone.
Todd.

Weekly Checkin and Update!
Hey everyone! It is winter hear in Cali and that means rain. This makes running in the morning challenging. We got out a few times last week and it felt really good. We are slow but we are still going! We both had a good week.
Bec - 161.4 lbs I thought the sugar fast was just for the week but she told me today that it is for the month. She is doing great and even passed on fresh, hot Chocolate chip cookies the other day! Way to go Bec!!!!!
Cameron - 245.6 lbs. I started watching the amount of food I was eating again. It is so easy to fall back into old habits. We are working hard.
We are glad to hear from Todd finally! Great to have you aboard!!!

Back In The Game!!!
Hey everyone! I am back after being sick all week last week. Liz, welcome to the fun! Glad to have you in our group! We are beginning our exercises again this week. Last week I didn't feel like getting up at all let alone to work out. We are still trying to get back in the swing of things from Christmas break and our vacation. Let me just let you all know it is much easier to slow down or stop exercising than it is to start sometimes. We are back at it though. Bec is on a sugar fast this week and we were up at 4:55 this morning getting ready for our morning stroll. It was nice to be back out. We also got back on the scales this morning. We have been weighing ourselves just not posting it. Sorry! We will do better.
Cameron - 247.4 lbs
Bec - 165.4 lbs
We are still looking forward to the cruise! I hope you all are planning on it.

I'm Stuck
I have been down for a week with an injury (shin splints). I think the hills did it.
I did the 10K in Roseville and came in at 58:13. Happy about posting a similar time as our Turkey trot as the course was much harder. Mile 1, 2 and 6 were the easiest. Mile 3 was a downhill switchback. Mile 4 and 5 were brutal, all uphill. The course went out 3.1 miles and then you turn around and came back. Other than being about 40 degrees, the weather was beautiful and the course spectacular.
I remain at 210, not sure why. I am tending to a new thyroid problem (gotta luv genetics). Not looking for an excuse, but it is a common cause for weight gain and lack of loss. After 6 weeks they increased by dose so maybe I will get in balance. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we can be better at posting and achieving our goals.

Hello!!
I am finally here!
alright, so my goal is to get to 160lbs.
I am currently 190.6! (up 10lbs. since summer)
Yikes! I can't believe I am publishing this
for the world to see! (okay, maybe not the world)
As far as an exercise program, I am planning on taking
a few classes at the YMCA each week (this week I have already done
a kick boxing class and a weight lifting class)
and doing quite a bit of walking.
I just signed up for the breast cancer 3 day walk. Scheduled for
Sept. 11-13th. It is a 60 mile walk over the three days.
so, that means I will be doing some major walking to train for it!
talk with you next week
Liz

Still In!
I know, we have been blogger slackers! But it is hard to post when it's not great news! We are still working hard, we have been doing much better since the first of the year. We weren't too great in December, well I wasn't, Rhett did pretty good through the holidays. He hit 205, but right now is right about 207. He keeps saying he is going to start lifting weights, we were going to do it here at home at night, but that is not happening, so we may get up another 1/2 hour earlier and lift before we go to the gym, I don't know how well that will go either.
I have decided to run/walk a 5k in May. I have been talking about it forever, but I am going to do it. So last Saturday I got on the treadmill and ran for 2 miles straight! I have never in my life done that, I have ran a mile, but that is the most I have done straight! I then walked a little and ran the rest to 3.2 miles and did it in 41:40. I am doing the treadmill every other day and spinning class on the other days. Friday I did 3.2 miles in 38:40, so hopefully I can continually shave time off. As it gets warmer I will start running outside, I know that is harder than on the treadmill, but it is way to cold for me right now!
So my numbers - not much news there - I did gain over the holidays (we had treats at school everyday!!!!!!) I started anew at the New Year at 187, and Friday I weighed in at 184.8. We are in this for the long haul. Even if it doesn't show on the scale, I am feeling so much better and it feels good to be getting in better shape!
Good job Cameron for loosing while on vacation! That is awesome! Your trip looked magical! Claudine

IS ANYONE STILL GOING TO DO THIS????
I will continue to post because it helps me. It is a sort of accountability I guess. We didn't post last week because we were on a great family vacation in southern California. Monday morning weigh in was;
Cameron 147.8 lbs. opps!!! I ment 247.8 lbs. (I like the other # better.)
Rebecca (I don't know) She will have to edit this.
It is a new year and this is the year for the cruise so get with it. We don't have to be to our goals to go so just keep up the good work. We are running in the mornings again. We did a bit during the break but not real consistently. Happy New Year!!!
