I had a busy week and only ran once. I managed to drop another pound to 203. I am hoping to break the 200 mark soon. I can identify with Cameron's eating. I have been eating 4-5 times a day for sometime now. I make sure I get a good breakfast, eat a snack of 200 calories about 10:30, lunch about 12:30 and dinner between 4-6 if all possible. This keeps me from over eating if I get home late. If I go for a run in the evening, I may eat another small snack when I get back.
I noticed the other day that Rebecca is looking thin in the face which is a good indicator of overall weight loss. Happy early birthday.

THE END OF ANOTHER WEEK
I don't know about the rest of you but the weeks are flying by. Two more weeks of school for us and the kids and Bec will be enjoying summer vacation.
This week I was a bit sore from the long run last Saturday so we walked more than ran. We ran two days. We didn't do a run this morning either. I tried something that seemed to work really well for me this week. I tried not eating if it got very late in the evening. I was also eating a really good lunch so I wasn't very hungry for dinner. I would eat some carrots or something like that and then eat in the morning. It seemed to work pretty good. The scale started moving in a positive direction again. Friday morning weigh-in was as follows:
Cameron - 235.8 lbs
Rebecca - 162.? lbs
I need to plan another long run very soon. It is tough to come up with 2 hrs. that you can just run. Next Saturday is Bec's Birthday. She is going to be 37 yrs. young! Everyone make sure you wish her Happy Birthday. As you have seen on her Face Book page she is looking very good! I will try and add a picture of us on here as well. Good luck everyone! Keep up the posts and getting in shape! It really helps to see what each of you are doing.
Later,
Cameron & Rebecca

Better Late than Never!
We have been camping over Memorial Day Weekend so I didn't post for Friday. On Friday I weighed in at 166.6 and Rhett was 209. We didn't get any exercise in this weekend, so I am ready to get up in the morning and get back to it! I did pass up a lot of sweets - even homemade pippin' hot glazed doughnuts!!!! Not Easy!!!
I can't believe you guys are running a half marathon! That is awesome!!!! I haven't ran since the race last week, I did more weights and spinning this week. But I plan to get back to running this week. We are wanting to find another 5k to run soon.
I don't blame you for changing to Fridays to weigh in, it helps knowing you worked out all week before weighing in!

Still Learning!
Well Claudine, this should make you happy. Bec said the other day while we were walking that she didn't want to post our weight on Monday anymore. She would like to start doing our weigh-in's on Friday mornings. So now we will be on your schedule and closer to Earl. Great job Earl on the run. We are also going to get ready to run a half marathon. We have wanted to for awhile but have never done it and we need something new to motivate us. We have to find one but we are going to start. I didn't know if I could do it before but last Friday I ran with Bec at her pace. She is very steady all the time. I felt really great after about 2.5 miles and thought I maybe could run a half marathon. Saturday morning we got up and met Laura, Earl's wife, at 6:15 for a run. I decided that today was going to be the day I would try to run for a long run, mostly to see how long I could run. I didn't tell Bec and her and Laura turned a different way and left me after two blocks. They ran for about an hour and I ended up going for about 1 hr. and 45 min.! I felt great until about the last 10 min or so and had to walk for about a min. My thighs felt like jello! I ended up going 10.35 miles. I was very happy to see that and now feel pretty confident that I can do a half marathon. I did learn another thing from my run on Saturday. You have to let your wife know where and how long you plan on being gone. They tend to worry if they don't know these things. Sorry Bec!!!! Here is our weigh-in for Friday the 22nd:
Cameron - 237.2 lbs
Bec - 160.2 lbs
The race was fun last weekend but now we have to find another one. It is so much easier to run when you are training for something. Here is a link to the run I did on Saturday.

Happy getting in Shape everyone! Congrats Rhett and Claudine on your race! That is great that your family did that together! I am glad that Rhett is healing up so well!

Long Runs
So I am working on my next goal which will be a half-marathon. This is very intimidating to me. I have adjusted my training program after my race on the 16th. I did not finish like I would have liked.
I have been running 5 miles twice a week. One run will incorporate hills and the other will be more of speed work. I may do this at a shorter distance. On Saturday, I do my long run. This week it was 8 miles. Since I know that I can do 6.2, going up to 7 didn't seem like enough mental and physical challenge. To ease my mind a little, I decided to run down a road for 4 and turn around. I just didn't feel comfortable doing a loop in case something happened and I was far from home. I ran with 12 oz of G2 for hydration and GU for my half way point. I dropped off the bottle at 3 miles and took the GU at 4. I had enough energy to finish the race and drank about 6 to 8 oz. Of course bottoms up at the end.
I was thinking about mile 5 that I might be able to do the run in 1 hr 15 min. I was not worried about time, just trying to keep a steady 9:20 mile. I actually finished at 1:14:14, 9:15 miles. I was surprised at how my energy level was sustained as I focused on form and pace.
My IPOD recording the mile markers - 9:17, 10:14, 9:09, 9:02, 9:13, 9:13, 9:15, 9:19
I weighed in at 204 before my run and 201 after. That is a lot of sweat!

Survived!!
Well I survived my first 5k! Very excited!
My time was 33:32 and Rhett's was 33:34 (I think he let me beat him).
I was pretty happy with that, I only walked for a minute a couple times!!! It feels great!!! I told Rhett we need to find another to do soon.
Rhett has been back at the gym all of last week and is feeling pretty good. He wants to be back down to 207 by the end of May.
I weighed in last Friday at 168.2 - getting closer!!!!!
Good job on the 10k guys, that is amazing!!!! I can't imagine going double what we did, maybe someday! Baby steps!!!

We did it!
I hit the scale at 203 this morning. Cameron, Rebecca, Ron and I started off this morning with our 10K race. It was a beautiful trail course tucked in the foothills of Folsom, CA. Ron serenaded "Ring of Fire" by John Cash for us while we passed the Folsom Prison.
The race started at 8:25 which was not early enough since we were probably in the mid 70's by race time. We were told there were 8 water stations, but we only had them at mile 1, 2 something and mile 5. Miles 1-3 I ran according to plan. I got thirsty 4-6 and since a lot of it was in the sun and only had 1 water station, I struggled. I did not get the time I wanted, but can feel the improvement from a year to even 5 months ago. A race like that use to wipe me out for the rest of the day. I think I am going to train for a half marathon. I need to find a race and set a new goal. I can't even imagine going twice the distance right now.

Mother's Day Downfall!!!!
This is not a fun post but I am doing it because this is the place to keep track of our results or the lack there of! We had a great weekend. I went on a 10k run with Earl and Ron on Saturday. I did it in about 58 min. and Earl was about 2-3 min faster. Ron finished about a min. faster also. I need to learn to pace myself so I don't run out of gas at the end. Two of my toe nails are going to fall off now. They don't feel real good. That will be fun for the race on Saturday. Mother's day was great. The boys and I fixed a pretty good dinner, roast potatoes, salad and corn. It was too good and I ate to much. We also made a big breakfast. Oh well! Bec is worth it. That was the good part of the weekend. Now for the not so fun part! Weigh-in on Monday morning:
Cameron - 242.8 lbs (The weight yo-yo!)
Bec - 163 lbs (She liked her dinner and breakfast also!)
We are walking this week trying to be ready for the run on Saturday. We are really trying. It gets hard and frustrating! We need to be more disciplined with our food intake and the amounts we are eating. We are not giving up! Thanks for all your examples. Claudine, you look great in your mother's day pictures and congrats on getting under 170! That is huge! Earl, you are a machine! Keep it up. I will try and keep up on Saturday. I hope I can keep up with your 9 min mile!
Thanks everyone!
P.S. Todd I miss you! Get with the program and post! The wedding is in a couple of weeks!

Back on Track!
Well, I am back on track with the sweets again! No sweets since Monday!
I weighed in Friday morning at 169.8
It feels awesome to get under 170. My goal is no sweets until we go to Martin's Cove, which is June 11th.
Our 5k is a week from today, I don't know how much I will be able to run, my knee has been giving me a lot of trouble this week and I sure don't want to injure it before the trek. So I am just taking it as it comes and doing what I feel like I can. I have done more spinning and lifting this week then running. My main goal is not to run races, but to lose weight!
I love watching Biggest Loser! So inspiring! So are you guys keep up the good work!
Oh and Rhett did go to the gym with me Monday and Tuesday, but I think it set him back in his healing and he hasn't been able to go back. He says he has put on 10 pounds and doesn't like to think about the whole thing, he just gets so mad because he had been doing so well. It's a bummer!

Making Progress
This morning I weighed in at 204.4. I hit my goal of 205 which is exciting, but wanting to be under 200 more. Last night I mapped out a loop to run a 10K.
http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/ca/marysville/850124150062977088
After work I ran the course to see how my preparation is coming for May 16th. I forgot how far 6.2 miles really is. Sometimes going out and running back is easier than a loop. I did it in 56:53 (9.09 min/mi). Not a bad result. I wanted to come in at 9.00 or less per mile. I had a couple points where I struggled and had to stop for a few seconds. In the next week, if I can keep my endurance up, I hope to run the whole thing and achieve my goal!
I watched the biggest loser and they ran marathons in 26 days of preparation. I was totally amazed. I just don't have the will power yet.

Hangin' In
That's the best words to describe us right now. We are hangin' in there, haven't made much progress in 3 weeks, but still hangin' in. . .
I weighed in on Friday at 171.2
I have not seen the progress I had been seeing since Rhett got hurt. I have been really good and still make it to the gym 5-6 days a week, and I was off sweets until Easter, then I had Easter candy and a big piece of better than you know what cake!!!! It was delious! I swore that was it and I was going to go back to being sweets free. But it's a little tough, ya get that taste in your mouth and I went right back to craving chocolate. So I didn't do so great that next week. The past two weeks, I have been good, but have allowed myself a one or two treats a week.
I am ready to rededicate myself on Monday, no sweets and I am going to cut back on bread. That is a big weakness for me, rolls especially, we have them a lot. I hope that will help get the scale coming down again.
Our 5k is two weeks from today, and I still haven't been able to run outside like I really want to. I'm not hardcore enough to want to run in the wind and rain. Idaho springs are very windy!!!! Rhett is hoping to be able to walk it, I think he will be able to. He is doing a lot better, it has been 3 weeks now. He keeps saying he thinks he is going to be able to go back to the gym on Monday, we will see. He was home from work last Monday and Tuesday, and I really don't want him to rush back. He is frustrated though, he says he is just getting fat! When people want to help you feel better they bring over goodies, and we have had a ton of that and he has sampled it all! Hopefully he can get back to the swing of things soon and get back to where he was. It is amazing how quickly your body goes flabby once you stop working out!!
My 20 year class reunion is the end of July, I really hope to lose another 10-15 pounds by then.
Keep hangin' in!

Does This Get Hard For Anyone Else!!!!!
Well let me start with our weigh-in from last Monday:
Cameron - 243.2 lbs
Bec - 161.4 lbs
We are both stuck. We are running and walking still but sometimes it gets very hard. If it wasn't for Ron, some mornings I would just stop running and walk. That was last week. Bec is pretty steady all the time. She is frustrated at not being able to get below 160 lbs. She looks great and we are trying to keeping each other going. We are both hoping to be able to break the walls that seem to be in our way soon.
Last weekend we did a 5k walk for M.S. Bec walked with a group from her work and I ran the course twice. I ran it in 55+ min. That is my best time for a 10k. I don't think it was quite a true 10k but very close. We are going to do a 10k in Folsom on the 16th.
Thanks for everyone keeping me going! I was having the hardest time last week. You guys are my motivation. Thanks Bec! We will keep getting in better shape so when it is time to serve our missions we will be ready to go!
